Position Overview
Rio Tinto is seeking a Quality Engineer to support our lithium hydroxide production unit in Bessemer City, NC. In this key role, you'll ensure process and product compliance to IATF 16949:2016 and other quality standards, while driving continuous improvement and supporting manufacturing operations.
What You’ll Do
Lead quality initiatives using Six Sigma and SPC tools
Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
Perform internal audits and maintain quality documentation
Support supplier qualification and performance tracking
Conduct training on quality systems and standards
Collaborate across R&D, manufacturing, and commercial teams to achieve site objectives
What We’re Looking For
B.S. in Chemical Engineering (required)
1–3 years in a manufacturing environment (chemical or related preferred)
Familiarity with IATF 16949:2016, ISO 9001:2015, and statistical tools (Minitab)
Strong skills in SPC, CAPA, root cause analysis, and process audits
OSHA safety awareness and regulatory compliance mindset
