Brunel has an exciting contract opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with our client who is a leading mining company in Bagdad, Arizona.

This is a 4x1 rotational position with 4 weeks working at site. (4 weeks working at site, 1 week off at home. If the project workload supports working from home during the “off” week, it must be with manager approval.)

This contractor position will be located/working on the Bagdad, AZ mine site.

Accurately measure and assess the quantities of materials, labor, and equipment required for mining activities, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost management.

Essential Functions:

Quantity Measurement and Estimation: Conduct accurate and detailed quantity surveys including excavation, drilling, blasting, hauling and infrastructure development.

Cost Control: Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to estimate costs, develop budgets, and monitor expenses throughout the project lifecycle. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend appropriate strategies.

Resource Allocation: Assess the quantity and quality of materials, equipment, and labor required. Ensure efficient resource allocation and utilization to meet project objectives while minimizing wastage.

Progress Monitoring: Track and document progress, including quantity of work completed and actual costs incurred. Prepare progress reports and provide timely updates to project stakeholders.

Variations and Claims Management: Analyze variations and claims related to quantities, costs, and scope changes. Assess their impact on project timelines and costs and provide recommendations for resolution.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quantity surveys, cost estimates, and project progress. Prepare comprehensive reports, including quantity takeoffs, cost breakdowns, and cost forecasts.

Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication, resolve issues, and facilitate smooth project execution.

Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all relevant regulations, standards, and safety guidelines. Identify potential risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

Job Scope Information:

Nature of Work - Works on complex issues and implements solutions mostly through the determination of strategy and delegation to others in a group or functional area.

Level of Interaction - Often collaborates with managers and/or functional or site leaders and has some interaction with external colleagues.

Autonomy/Decision making - Has moderate supervision and some latitude to set objectives, priorities and timelines that may impact a department or individual work group.

Budgetary responsibility – Has no budget responsibility

Managerial responsibility - Manages a function or specific program(s) or project(s) but no people.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A relevant professional certification is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction and/or industry, with a strong focus on field operations.

Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make accurate projections. Strong problem-solving skills to address cost-related challenges.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in quantity assessments and cost calculations.

Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.

Proficient in the use of personal computers in a business environment: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with large copper production and related facilities

Prior EPCM experience preferred

Working as a team member (Client, EPCM & Contractors)

Proficiency in quantity measurement techniques, cost estimation, and cost control methods. Experience with computer-aided quantity surveying software is advantageous.
