JOB SUMMARY: The Project Manager III (PM III) will report to and assist the service line leaders in ensuring projects within the region are managed successfully and to help provide guidance to project managers and project coordinators. They will provide direction regarding financial management, forecasting, and business development. They will work closely with Eocene division leadership to develop, build, and maintain successful business relationships and ensure Eocene’s long-term success.

Department-specific responsibilities: The PM III position will lead the Watershed Planning and Engineering Design Team by supporting a growing group of engineers and technicians, and environmental scientists experienced in stream, riparian, and wetland restoration, mitigation banking, green infrastructure, general stormwater management, survey, environmental engineering, civil engineering, and hydraulic and hydrologic analysis. Familiarity with stream geomorphology, functions and values of wetlands, and water quality and quantity issues in the Midwest is highly desirable. This position will primarily provide direction and oversight of project managers but may occasionally serve as PM IV on larger projects. In addition to being a team leader, this position will identify and spearhead business development opportunities in the Midwest and provide support for business development in environmental engineering throughout the company.

Project Manager Supervision

Provide career development goals, meet regularly, write and deliver quarterly reviews, and advocate for career advancement as applicable

Provide mentorship to junior project managers

Ensure project managers are continually advancing in their certifications and credentials

Oversee and meet regularly to ensure project managers and regional coordinators have the resources and tools they need, and resolve issues so that their region and projects can run successfully and profitably

Assist with the population of the regional dashboard tab, which reports various operational, fiscal, and business development metrics

Train, counsel, & discipline employees as necessary based on Policies and Procedures

Assist with preparing comprehensive training programs and providing training to staff

Business Development

Work with Eocene Environmental Division Business Development Group to:

Identify and pursue water resource-specific, engineering design, and construction observation project opportunities.

Attend and present at industry events to promote project and staff expertise and increase exposure of Eocene’s Environmental Division.

Contact and meet with prospective and current clients, establish lines of communication for follow-up.

Add Eocene Environmental Division to bid lists for future opportunities.

Assist with participation and preparation of new business presentations.

Review and approve formal proposals in response to Requests For Proposals (RFP).

Attend regional conferences

Assist with proposal submissions and contract startups

Regional Management

Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control visits with clients per the QA/QC procedure to ensure regions within the Environmental Division meet monthly client expectations

Meet and collaborate with other Eocene divisions.

Ability to travel throughout designated territory and to Wright Service Corp. headquarters in West Des Moines, Iowa when required. The amount of travel required will depend upon the candidate’s location.

Conduct interviews and fill vacancies.

Organize, monitor, and report up on work processes.

Ensure timesheets are submitted on time and accurately.

Facilitate employee success and perform quarterly employee evaluations and/or Employee Development Evaluation (EDP).

Set and complete quarterly strategic goals (G&C).

Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene’s culture of safety and employee ownership.

Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures

Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Professional Engineering License in Environmental or Civil Engineering

Four (4)-year degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field

Minimum of 15 years of industry experience

Valid state issued driver’s license

Knowledge of all applicable industry safety rules and regulations

Knowledge of relevant Federal and State regulations

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Familiarity with typical water resource projects

Experience using ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, and AutoDesk software, including Civil3D and AutoCAD

A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the professional services industry

Previous managerial experience

Financial training and/or certifications

Project management training and/or certifications

Completion of Iowa DNR Level 1 and Level 2 Iowa River Restoration Toolbox training

Familiarity with Section 404 and floodplain permitting

Must reside in the appropriate region of the country. Location is negotiable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products utilizing the latest operating system

Experience with Apple-based products

Able to communicate with all levels of employees, both technical and non-technical
