Job Description
Role Purpose
As a Quality Inspector, you will support the inspection and follow the manufacturing of spent nuclear fuel transport and storage packages. Based in the Pittsburgh area, this non-travel role involves the inspection of activities related to fabrication, welding, and testing at the supplier workshops.
You will assist the senior inspector by covering the second shift (4 to 10:30pm) and ensure that the work performed by the manufacturer is done in accordance with predefined technical and quality requirements. This includes tracking inspection steps, verifying compliance through visual and non-destructive inspection, and maintaining high standards of safety and objectivity.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect and follow up on the manufacturing process of spent nuclear fuel packaging components (metallic welded structures).
Report deviations.
Monitor key fabrication steps: welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), mechanical testing, heat treatment, and surface protection.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
Complete internal reports.
Use internal inspection tools and applications (training provided).
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical diploma or associate degree in mechanical engineering, materials, or a related technical field.
First experience (internship, apprenticeship, or junior position) in manufacturing, welding, or quality control is preferred.
Interest in nuclear or heavy industry standards and processes.
Ability to understand and follow technical procedures, drawings, and inspection checklists.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Fluent in English (written and spoken); other languages are a plus.
U.S. work authorization required.
