Project Manager & Estimator – Residential and Commercial Painting
Position Type:
Full-Time (40+ hours/week)
Monday – Friday (occasional weekends as needed)

As our business grows, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Manager and Estimator to oversee and coordinate painting projects from initial contact to final walk-through.
Job Summary:
The Project Manager & Estimator is responsible for estimating project costs, preparing detailed proposals, coordinating crews, managing timelines, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. This position plays a critical role in maintaining profitability, quality, and a high standard of service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Estimating and Sales
Conduct site visits to assess scope of work for residential and commercial projects.
Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for painting projects including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Generate and present professional written proposals to clients.
Follow up on bids and maintain communication with potential customers.
Support sales by identifying customer needs and offering tailored solutions.
Use estimating software (e.g., Dripjobs, JobNimbus, Estimate Rocket, or Excel) efficiently.
2. Project Management
Plan and schedule painting jobs ensuring optimal resource allocation.
Coordinate with foremen, painters, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project execution meets deadlines and specifications.
Manage daily job progress, troubleshoot on-site issues, and adjust schedules as needed.
Conduct pre-job walkthroughs and final inspections with clients.
Monitor material usage, change orders, and project costs to ensure profitability.
Maintain detailed records of project progress, time logs, and job reports.
3. Client Relations
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project.
Communicate effectively with clients regarding timelines, expectations, and updates.
Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction and retain repeat business.
Conduct post-project follow-ups and handle warranty or touch-up work requests.
4. Team Coordination
Collaborate with internal team members including sales, operations, and crew leads.
Lead and motivate field staff, ensure proper safety practices, and promote a team-oriented environment.
Provide job-specific instructions and expectations to crews.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in residential and/or commercial painting industry.
Proven experience in project management and cost estimating in the trades.
Strong understanding of painting products, surface preparation, and techniques.
Familiarity with estimating software and project management tools.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read blueprints, specs, and construction documents.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (company vehicle may be provided).
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA certification or knowledge of safety standards in construction.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus.
Experience working with general contractors and property managers.
Previous experience using CRM/project management tools (e.g., Buildertrend, Jobber, CoConstruct, Procore).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to visit job sites and perform inspections (includes walking, standing, climbing ladders).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs if needed.
Tolerance to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
