Electrical Designer Job Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Designer to provide technical support in studying, analyzing, and evaluating fabrication issues and developing design solutions for commercial vessels including barges and tugs.
Electrical Designer Responsibilities
Perform 2D & 3D modeling, drafting, and drawing tasks using 2D CAD software especially ShipConstructor and AutoCAD
Be familiar with vessel systems to include mechanical, structural, civil, and electrical components to allow considerations of those aspects into a project or area design
Be familiar with industry standards and regulations including IEEE, USCG and ABS
Proficient with marine electrical designs for power distribution, control systems, power conversion, communications, lighting, and safety systems
Interpret vendor/fabricator shop drawings and interact with vendors to determine and source components for given projects
Produce professional drawings in compliance with accepted drawing standards when provided technical input and guidance
Assist with duties in the engineering fabrication shop during manufacturing of panels and switchboards to update working drawings or solve interference or design issues
Prepare or revise engineering drawings in accordance with the marked-up prints, sketches, or verbal instructions provided by senior staff
Create multiple view drawings with appropriate details and section views, dimensions, and tolerances per department drafting standards
Measure and document equipment sizes, locations and orientations and generating scaled electronic depictions of equipment layout
Develop plan, section, and elevation views for drawings to adequately capture details
Provide part details, nesting plans, and CNC coding
Make drawing changes to existing components and facilitate the release of ECN (Engineering Change Notice) to production.Electrical Designer Position Requirements
Associate Degree in related field plus 8 years work experience using 2D & 3D CAD software in Marine or Aerospace industry supporting electrical power and integration design
Skills with 2D & 3D CAD software (Ship constructor, Auto CAD, Rhino, SolidWorks)
