The College of Integrative Studies (CIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) invites applications for up to two full-time positions in Communication. We are particularly interested in scholars who work in one or more of the following specializations:

science/environmental/health/risk communication

digital media (e.g., social media influencers, misinformation, digital journalism)

communication technology (e.g., HCI, UI/UX, AR/VR, AI)

We are open to applicants at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels, and welcome applications from senior candidates. Strong candidates at the Associate or Full Professor levels will be considered for tenure upon appointment.

CIS is also home to a strong community of interdisciplinary scholars. CIS overseas the delivery of University's Core Curriculum, and offers a suite of programmes including Singapore's first individualisable major at the undergraduate level, as well as interdisciplinary Master of Sustainability and an MPhil and and PhD programme in “Asian Urbanisms”. The successful candidate for these positions will:

depending on rank, deliver 2 – 3 sections per year of undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses assigned by the Dean/Associate Dean in consultation with the individual faculty member. We are seeking individuals who can develop and teach coursework on digital media, strategic communication, and/or health communication. Faculty may propose other coursework based on their interests and in consultation with the Dean/Associate Dean.

develop teaching and learning materials for the course curricula, including online material, videos, test banks, grading rubrics, adaptive learning tools, handouts, cases, and textbook, where appropriate.

provide academic advice to students regarding the relevant course material, as well as general program planning, course selection and related academic matters.

publish research in top-tier disciplinary and interdisciplinary journals. Although not required, faculty are encouraged to undertake or participate in interdisciplinary research.

apply for competitive research grants.

provide service to the college and university, including participation in events, outreach activities, and engagement with industry and stakeholders.

A PhD in Communication or cognate discipline is required. Applicants should have evidence of excellence in teaching and will ideally have experience in active and blended learning pedagogy.
