Job Title: Gate Automation & Access Control Technician

Location: Savannah GA

Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Gate Automation & Access Control Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot automated gate systems, access control systems, and related security equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage systems, and a strong understanding of safety and access control technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation of automated gates (swing, slide, barrier arms, etc.) and access control systems (keypads, card readers, intercoms, RFID, biometric systems).

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and software issues in existing installations.

Perform routine maintenance and inspections on systems to ensure optimal operation.

Run and terminate cabling for power and data communication (low-voltage wiring).

Configure and integrate systems with software and network-based platforms (e.g., remote access, mobile apps).

Provide technical support and training to customers on system use.

Work from blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Ensure work complies with safety standards and local electrical or building codes.

Keep accurate records of service calls, parts used, and customer interactions.

Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other trades during installations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (technical or trade school certification is a plus).

2+ years of experience in gate automation, access control, or a related field.

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, low-voltage wiring, and mechanical systems.

Experience with brands such as LiftMaster, DoorKing, FAAC, HySecurity, Nice, Linear, or similar.

Familiarity with TCP/IP networking and access control software (e.g., Paxton, HID, Avigilon, etc.).

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

Valid driver s license with a clean driving record.

Comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions.

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and use power tools safely.

Preferred Skills:

Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, Low Voltage License, or manufacturer-specific training.

Basic knowledge of CCTV and intercom systems.

Experience using diagnostic tools and software for access control or automation systems.

Work Environment:

Work is performed at commercial, industrial, and residential job sites.

May require early mornings, overtime, or on-call service.

Field-based role with travel between job locations.
