Job Description

We have an opening for a Performance and Public Programs Intern will have the opportunity to learn about how performances and programs are selected, created, and contextualized; what goes into producing events and working with artists and speakers; and how the department works across the museum to align programming. To be successful in this role, you will:

Assist with administrative tasks toward the production of summer performances and programs and planning towards fall and spring projects.

Execute logistical tasks, errands, and support artist hospitality before and during events.

Conduct exploratory research on artists and performance works.

Draft, review, and compile project-related texts.

Develop an understanding of the administrative operations of the department by assisting with budgets, schedules, contracts, and travel arrangements.

Work with members from other departments to understand collaboration across the museum on exhibitions, committee meetings, and other projects.

Participate in departmental meetings and MCA staff events.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Interest in contemporary art, emphasis on performance and live art.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to manage assignments with attention to detail and strong organization skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.

Ability to perform occasional light lifting.

General mobility throughout the museum.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

MCA Internships are geared towards current college students and recent grads (<1year) who are interested in contemporary art and have a passion for learning more about how museums work.

Candidates must be interested in exploring a potential career in the culture sector.

Interns must be able to work 24 hours per week onsite for the entirety of the internship period (August 18, 2025 through May 15, 2026).

This is a part time temporary position with a schedule determined by department and operational needs; may include evenings and weekends if needed for exhibitions or events. This position is not eligible for hybrid work arrangement per the Remote Work Policy.
