THE CITY OF DOUGLASVILLE IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR OUR FALL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM!

This learning experience affords the students a view of the inner workings of city government. Each intern will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of study. Each intern must be open to new ideas and suggestions, and be committed to completing the internship in its entirety.

FALL INTERN – ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY

The Fall Intern will assist in the operations and execution of Organizational Development’s programs and initiatives including Employee Engagement & Workplace Culture, Training, and Wellness & Retention Initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain and update employee training records

Assist with administrative tasks, including preparing sign-in sheets, sending follow-up emails, and supporting event logistics

Support the planning and execution of employee trainings, workshops, and wellness events

Help prepare communication materials such as flyers, presentations, and intranet posts

Conduct research on best practices in organizational development and wellness

Assist with tracking employee engagement and gathering feedback for continuous improvement

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate (within the last year), majoring in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Horticulture Environmental Design/Sustainable Design, Biology, Ecology or related major preferred; Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent oral and written communications skills are all essential to this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of the operation of general office equipment including calculator, computer keyboard, computer word processing or other programs, telephone, telephone console, or copy machine as required

Knowledge of basic mathematical and accounting procedures

Skill in operating a computer

Skill in communicating both orally and in written form

Skill in researching complex issues and developing recommended actions

Ability to develop, implement and evaluate new and revised procedures, methods and standards

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise considerable skill in information handling, privacy of records and judgment

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Preferred Skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is sedentary work and requires speaking and talking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Incumbent works in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.

The rate of pay will be paid at $20 per hour.

Interns are classified as non-exempt, temporary employees and may be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week. While they are paid hourly, they are not eligible for benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, or retirement contributions due to their temporary status.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

United States citizen or authorized to work in the United States

Current enrollment in a college, university, or technical school (or recently graduate within the last year)

Current grade point average of 3.0 or better
