About the position:
Custodians work under the Custodial Lead and are responsible for cleaning buildings, classrooms, offices and restrooms. We are looking for a team player who enjoys cleaning, working around students and educational staff, and making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Day and Swing-Shift schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:000pm (Day), 10:00am-6:30pm (Day), or 6:00pm-2:30am (Swing).
Duties
Clean buildings, classrooms, offices, kitchen, dining facilities, and restrooms according to established standards.
Vacuum, sweep, mop, wax, and polish floors.
Wipe down furniture, equipment, walls, and woodwork.
Empty wastebaskets and recycling containers.
Wash windows inside and out.
Collaborate and communicate with custodial crew and other staff. Move furniture and arrange tables and chairs for meetings and special events.
Operate professional cleaning equipment.
Check condition of lights, switches, plumbing, fixtures, carpets, and furnishings and report needed repairs to supervisor.
Supply facilities with paper products, soap and other items.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to read and write English.
High school degree or GED.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
Basic computer experience including email and internet.
Must be able to pass federal and state criminal background screening.
Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
Must be able to stand and move around for long periods of time to accomplish duties.
Willing and able to work with little notice to cover for staff absences.
Willingness to learn basic American Sign Language (ASL).
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of cleaning methods, safety practices, chemicals, equipment, and supplies used in general custodial work is a plus.
Specific custodial training.
Some professional custodial experience.
Ability to communicate fluently in American Sign Language.

Salary information:
Salary is set using the State of Washington General government pay scales (Range 32).
