Pontotoc Health and Rehab is looking for a dynamic Nurse to become part of our team to coordinate between the resident, the medical record and facility staff to provide Quality Assurance oversight and Infection Control guidance and compliance. To insure compliance with state, and federal regulations. This position is Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. There will be some flexibility to audit on the other shifts when necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Make daily rounds in order to insure quality of care and monitor infection control issues. Refer problems to the appropriate areas for correction (nursing, housekeeping, maintenance, dietary, social services, activities and administration).
Make unannounced Q.A. rounds at various times in order to detect unique problems directly related to the shift and time.
Check the Twenty Four Hour Report daily and Q.A. the appropriate areas.
Infection control monitoring and maintain Infection Control Log.
Assist with facility staff education programs and provide one on one in-service training, should the need arise.
Monitor staff performance for compliance with Infection Control protocol.
Assist with M.D.S.+ and Total Care Plan meetings, as indicated.
Audit medical records in order to insure compliance with regulatory issues.
Assist with new admissions to the facility, as well as hospital transfers.
Conduct resident body audits in order to insure quality of care.
Any other duties, as requested by the Director of Nursing and/or Administrator.
Be knowledgeable about and promote resident rights.
Prevent abuse, neglect and exploitation in the elderly.
Promote a safe, clean environment in which the residents may live.
Become a participating facility team member with the residents as first priority.
New admits, hospital returns, accident/incidents, acute situations, etc.

LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.) or Registered Nurse (R.N.) currently licensed and in good standing with the Board of Nursing in the State in which the facility is located.
SUMMARY OF OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE:
Tasks and procedures performed by the employee involve risks classified by C.D.C. as Category I. (Direct contact with blood or other bodily fluids to which universal precautions apply.)
Other Considerations and Requirements:
Must be able to tolerate a high pace as typical for a nursing facility. Must be able to take and give instructions well and enjoy working with the elderly. Although employee is able to sit while charting medical information, he/she must be able to tolerate prolonged standing and walking.
