This position is Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. for approximately six (6) weeks starting June 2, 2025, and ending July 17, 2025.
Under direct supervision of the Parks Crew Leader, must be able to perform as an individual or as a member of a team working within City parks, green spaces, and/or City owned properties and facilities. Primary duties include (1) beautifying the parks, green spaces, and City property by performing routine grounds maintenance, (2) inspecting, cleaning, maintaining park grounds and facilities such as pavilions, playgrounds, and restrooms; (3) providing support in other City/Public Works functions as needed; and (4) performing related work as directed.

Primary Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performing all work in a safe manner utilizing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Operating equipment for grounds maintenance that includes zero turn mowers, weed trimmers, pressure washer, hand tools, and similar commercial grade equipment.
Maintaining park facilities and grounds by litter and refuse removal, painting, and similar minor repairs, cleaning and maintaining restrooms, pavilions, and other City facilities, trimming excess tree and vegetation overgrowth, and mowing, weeding, edging, blowing, pruning, planting, trimming, sodding, sawing, digging holes and trench lines.
Conducting inspection of assigned tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operating conditions prior to and after use.
Attending safety meetings according to department policy.
Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential. Monday – Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Ability to understand and receive both oral and written instructions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience
Minimum of six (6) months work experience that demonstrates the ability to safely and effectively operate light duty equipment associated with grounds maintenance or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of working with potential hazardous materials.
Knowledge of workplace safety rules and regulations.
Knowledge of materials and various types of manual, gas, and electrically powered equipment used in performing parks and grounds maintenance.
Ability to operate landscaping equipment and power tools.
Ability to follow and relay complex oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures.
Ability to work individually and with others.
Ability to work with respect for safety for yourself and others.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Include but not limited to:
Some tasks involve frequent walking, standing; some lifting and carrying of moderate weight (12-20 pounds); and/or the operation of vehicles, shop, or hand tools in which manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination are important ingredients of safe/productive operations.
Some tasks involve the regular, and at times sustained, performance of tasks such as walking over rough/uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined spaces.
Some tasks involve lifting/carrying heavier (20-50 pounds) items and occasionally heavier (100 pounds +) items.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and to pull, push, or drag up to 50 pounds of materials and supplies.
Position requires walking, standing, and stooping for extended periods of time.
Must be able to use their eyes, ears, hands, and fingers to perform assigned duties and responsibilities.
Requires the ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, and inclement weather such as rain, sleet, snow, and ice.
Exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, poison ivy and oak, strong odors and/or smoke, dust, or pollen.
Some tasks may require exposure to strong and/or toxic chemicals.
