Electrical Engineer – LED Lighting Product Design

We’re looking for a motivated Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic product development team focused on designing and testing advanced LED luminaires and lighting systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful projects across multiple departments and to help create products that bring real value to homes, businesses, and communities.

About the Role

The Electrical Engineer will be hands-on in the design, development, and testing of electrical components in LED lighting products. From concept through to production, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring product performance, safety, and manufacturability. This position allows for creativity and problem-solving, while working collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design and test LED circuits and driver systems for lighting products

Select and integrate LED/driver combinations based on performance and application

Create PCB layouts and drawings (Altium or similar tools)

Perform thermal analysis using CAD and CFD software

Build and maintain Bills of Material (BOM) using ERP systems

Ensure products meet UL, CSA, ETL, Intertek, and other certification standards

Develop and troubleshoot lighting circuits, controls, and related electronics

Conduct hands-on testing of prototypes and integrate systems into full assemblies

Apply DFM/DFA principles to ensure manufacturability and efficiency

Conduct design and failure mode analyses (DFMEA/PFMEA)

Support agency testing for compliance (FCC, UL, CSA, etc.)

Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle

Provide field troubleshooting and support for released products

Contribute to engineering change requests and product updates as needed

Help improve engineering processes and product development workflows

Qualifications

Strong understanding of analog circuit design and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE)

Familiarity with PCB design tools (Altium preferred)

Experience in troubleshooting, bench testing, and system-level debugging

Working knowledge of EMI mitigation and grounding techniques

Effective communicator and creative problem-solver

Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a similar technical field

At least 2 years of experience in new product development or sustaining engineering

Background in electro-mechanical product design is a strong plus

Travel Requirements
