Embedded Software Engineer

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD

Our client, a global leader in designing, manufacturing, and supporting advanced electronic systems for the U.S. Government seeks a Software Engineer to support Defense programs. This role involves developing, researching, designing, implementing, testing, and evaluating software and systems in collaboration with hardware development to enable optimal system performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, test, and evaluate embedded software and firmware to integrate sensors into active protection systems.

• Participate in internal and external design reviews, readiness reviews, and program reviews.

• Analyze software and firmware requirements to determine design feasibility within time and budget constraints.

• Collaborate with hardware engineers and other teams to ensure smooth interface integration and meet system performance requirements.

• Develop and oversee software testing procedures and related documentation.

• Provide on-site support for integration events, testing, demonstrations, and customer engagements.

• Work closely with engineers from the parent company based in Israel.

Required Qualifications

• Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.

• Embedded Software Expertise: Proficient in C/C++ for embedded systems.

• Experience integrating sensors into command-and-control systems.

• Knowledge of network communication protocols (TCP, UDP).

• Proficiency in developing and debugging software in both Linux and Windows environments.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity standards, including:

o FIPS Publication 197 (Advanced Encryption Standard)

o FIPS Publication 180-4 (Secure Hash Standard)

o IEC/ISO 11770-2 (IT Security Techniques)

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Clearance: Current, in-scope Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

• Familiarity with Audio-Video Bridging (AVB).

• Basic understanding of radar and optical detection systems.

• Experience with FPGA programming and hardware description languages (preferably Verilog).

• A background in electrical engineering is a plus.

Compensation

• $145,000 to $165,000 annually
