Position Description:
The Resettlement Case manager (Reception and Placement (R&P)) is responsible for the direct management of individual refugee cases (including minor children), timely delivery of core services, with consistent documentation of services to each refugee family assignment. Under Agency guidelines the resettlement case manager manages multiple resources for the benefit of the client. This role manages relationships with stakeholders, coordinating the delivery of supplies to newly arriving refugee families and provides referrals as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
-Coordinate the reception of refugee families or minor children upon arrival.
-Complete core services for arriving refugees.
-Coordinate services with other stakeholders.
-Maintain organized and updated case notes and client files per agency standard.
-Complete contractual required reports on timely manner.
-Maintain updated client fund expenditures and donations records for each client
Other Duties:
-Effective communication written & verbal to clients and external agencies. -Represent Catholic Charities at conferences, trainings, and meetings in the community.
-Create cooperative and positive relationship with clients and relevant stakeholders. Assist clients solve difficult problems under pressure.
-Consistently & independently work towards self-sufficiency with all clients with minimal day-to-day supervision.
-Attend regular supervision meetings, case consultations, assist with the development of crisis mitigation strategies.
-Informed of the social services policies and practices in all counties and localities where the case manager is active. Seek out learning opportunities to enhance his/her capacity to assist clients.
-Willingness to uphold goals and mission of Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington.
Qualifications & Skills:
-Effective oral and written communication skills
-Bilingual English and 1 other language spoken by clients: Ukrainian, Dari, Pashtu, Arabic, Spanish, Amharic.
-Flexible to work irregular hours.
-Microsoft Office Suite & Database entry fluency.
Education and Experience:
-Associate degree with 3-5 years’ experience required or Bachelor’s degree in social services field preferred.
-Previous experience in a culturally diverse environment, 2 years refugee resettlement preferred.
-Valid US driver’s license with 3 years of licensed driving in the US, good driving record. Willing to drive clients
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard. Specific vision requirements due to computer work and driving a motor vehicle. Light to moderate lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
