Delivery Manager

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Delivery Manager to build and optimize our last-mile delivery network across Kenya. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in logistics, an existing network of freelance riders, and experience in managing last-mile delivery operations. This role involves rider recruitment, negotiation, operational push, route optimization, and partnerships with delivery companies to ensure smooth and cost-effective

operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Rider Recruitment & Network Expansion

• Identify, recruit, and onboard freelance riders across Kenya.

• Ensure multiple rider options in different cities and rural areas.

• Establish long-term partnerships with reliable riders.

2. Pricing & Negotiation

• Negotiate fair and competitive delivery fees with riders based on distance.

• Monitor and optimize cost structures while maintaining rider satisfaction.

• Ensure accurate pricing for each ride to align with the distance covered.

3. Route Optimization & Order Assignment

• Develop efficient routing strategies to minimize delivery time and co

• Assign orders to riders based on location, availability, and efficien

• Track and analyse delivery performance to improve logistics operations.

4. Operational Management & Availability Push

• Ensure riders’ availability 7 days a week, early morning to late night.

• Proactively manage rider schedules to prevent delivery delays.

• Implement incentive schemes to improve rider performance and engagement.

5. Partnerships with Delivery Companies

• Identify, vet, and negotiate with third-party delivery companies.

• Establish partnerships in regions where freelance riders are unavailable.

• Manage contracts and ensure SLA compliance.

6. Customer Support & Order Fulfilment Pu

• Engage with customers to encourage order completion and reduce cancellations.

• Troubleshoot delivery issues and optimize turnaround times.

Qualifications & Skill

• 3+ years of experience in last-mile logistics or delivery operations.

• Existing database of riders or strong connections in the delivery sector.

• Experience working with delivery apps, e-commerce, or logistics companies.

• Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.

• Familiarity with freelance rider operations, fleet management, route optimization, a regional delivery challenges in Kenya.

• Ability to work under pressure and ensure uninterrupted operations.

Preferred Experience

• Candidates from Jumia, Glovo, Bolt Food, Uber Eats, Sendy, Fargo Courier, G4S

Logistics or similar companies are encouraged to apply.

• Experience managing independent rider fleets or regional delivery network

• Background in e-commerce logistics, route planning, or supply chain management.
