The Peer Voice Project aims to foster positive relationships and open dialogue between peers in London and community stakeholders, including statutory services, including education, health services and policing. We're working to create a more inclusive, understanding, and supportive environment for all.

About the opportunity

We are looking for 5 Community Ambassadors, aged 16 - 25, who would like to develop their ability to engage, support and be the voice of their community. Helping to change public policy to remove barriers to young people's progression and advancement.

By supporting a team of expert mentors you will see first hand, how to give a community from disadvantaged backgrounds a voice.

You will gain access to a range of freebies, including free access to our mentoring training, mentoring tool kit, mentoring qualifications, network of expert mentors and volunteers corporate mentors.

With our full support and an eye on how you can further your career in law, finance and economics, youth work, community development, policing, education or social care sector you will join a community of mentors and practitioners who are committed to delivering high quality community voice projects, mentoring and contributing to the improvement on their peers in the community lives.

About The Mentoring Lab

Based in East London, The Mentoring Lab is a professional mentoring service and community of expert mentors offering mentoring programmes, training and consultation to schools, organisations, and local communities. Our primary goal is to reduce poverty and improve social mobility by working with young people and young adults to prevent underachievement in their learning and access to sustainable career opportunities.

In layman terms, through Youth Mentoring, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and isolation in young people’s lives.

What You'll Do

Within the Youth Voice Project, you will meet once every two weeks to explore and develop Youth Voice campaigns that can bring about positive change to Statutory and Public Services, that want to improve their relationships with young people from marginalised groups.

You will;

Participate in fortnightly friendly discussion groups and workshops

Help organise a community event that bring people together

Create a social media campaign to spread positivity

Assist in gathering youth perspectives through vlogs and surveys

Work with other youth groups to create a united voice

You will also;

Gain an understanding of and commitment to equal opportunity, safeguarding and quality assurance

Learn to communicate how to be non-judgment towards all cultures, races, religions, abilities, sexual orientation and socio-economic backgrounds.

Practice creating SMART targets and how to effectively follow-through on actions.

What We're Looking For

We would like to hear from you if you want to give back or gain experience in giving young people a voice. You must be:

A young person aged 16-25 living in London

Interested in community improvement and youth empowerment

Willing to work as a team

Open to learning and engaging in constructive conversations

Committed to attend monthly meetups and networking events.
