About the Company: A distinguished heavy civil construction company specializing in the development and maintenance of roadways and bridges with a backlog of over $500M. The company prides itself on a commitment to quality, safety, and innovative engineering solutions. They is seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Engineer with specific experience in Maryland DOT (MDOT) projects to join its dynamic team.

They are looking for a highly skilled Project Engineer to support its roadway and bridge construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with extensive experience working on MDOT projects. This role involves coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the planning, design, and execution of roadway and bridge construction projects.

Ensure projects comply with MDOT standards, specifications, and regulations.

Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to plans and safety standards.

Collaborate with project managers to develop project schedules, budgets, and work plans.

Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.

Assist in the preparation of project reports, documentation, and necessary approvals.

Provide technical support and guidance to the construction team.

Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges promptly.

Ensure effective communication and coordination between all project participants.

Maintain accurate records of project activities and documentation.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy civil construction, specifically in roadways and bridges.

Proven experience working on Maryland DOT projects.

Strong knowledge of MDOT standards, specifications, and regulations.

Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong organizational and project management abilities.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).

Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and technologies.
