Description:

Cloudbeds is the leading platform redefining the concept of PMS for the hospitality industry, serving tens of thousands of properties in more than 150 countries worldwide. Built from the ground up to be masterfully unified and scalable, the award-winning Cloudbeds Platform brings together built-in and integrated solutions that modernize hotel operations, distribution, guest experience, and data & analytics.

Behind the Cloudbeds platform is a growing team of 750+ employees distributed across 40+ countries speaking 30+ languages. We are engineers and designers, hotel managers and travel agents, and experts on everything from big data to e-commerce to compliance. The Cloudbeds team comprises the brightest minds in technology and hospitality working to solve the industry's biggest challenges.

From the beginning, we've believed that our people are our greatest asset, so we founded the company as #RemoteFirst, #RemoteAlways with shared core values and tenets that allow our team to thrive. This means we:

Embrace Remote First, Remote Always culture

Hire the best people around the world;

Prioritize our customers and results over titles

Foster an inclusive culture that celebrates bold thinking and diverse perspectives;

Offer open vacation time, flexible paid holidays, and company-wide mental health days;

Provide access to professional development, including manager training, upskilling and knowledge transfer, and free access to LinkedIn Learning and other platforms

Together we're on a mission to power every property in the world, and to do that, we need to find the best talent in the world. That's why we're on the search for a superstar Senior Backend Engineer.

As a Backend Engineer, you will implement new architectures, features, and best practices to scale the Cloudbeds platform. You will contribute to new efforts in service-oriented architectures, leveraging the latest, cutting-edge technologies. As a Senior Backend Engineer, your goal is to deliver an exceptional experience to our customers worldwide with quality, performance, and scalability top of mind. Alongside your team, you will leverage the latest, modern SaaS and Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies across all software stack layers.

This role will be a member of the Inventory squad. Driving direct bookings has always been important for our customers, as direct bookings have a lower customer acquisition cost than third-party bookings. They put the property in control and provide the property more ability to interact with their guests (i.e., sending pre-arrival forms and upsells).

Across the entire hotel industry, direct bookings account for roughly 30% of the booking volume. The same is true for Cloudbeds properties. And while some properties drive a very low volume of direct bookings, others invest heavily into marketing campaigns and guest loyalty and drive upwards of 90% of the entire booking volume as direct bookings. In general, there has been a recent trend where properties, particularly major brands, focus increasingly on driving direct bookings.

What You Will Do:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, build and ship high-quality features.

Mentor team members through practices like pair programming and code reviews.

Write clean, well-documented, and beautiful code.

Advocate for quality and test automation.

You’ll Succeed With:

5+ years of experience with PHP and PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symphony, or Yii.

Nice to Have:

Experience designing and building a microservice.

Experience with gRPC

Experience with cloud infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)

Experience working with a remote-first and globally distributed team.
