Job Overview:

LPL Financial is seeking an AVP in the Operations Control Group. The primary responsibilities of the Operations Control Group is to ensure LPL Financials’ operation’s adherence to the rules of various regulatory agencies. Its focus is SEC Rules 15c3-3 and 15c3-1, the Customer Protection Rule and Net Capital Rule. The role would work closely and develop working relationships within operations and finance, and other departments within LPL to identify, define and remediate various operational/regulatory related items. The role also requires the individual to implement and train analysts and managers on various control and regulatory policies consistent with a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.

Responsibilities:

Assess reconciliation risks and controls needed within Operational functions to maximize use of existing resources while ensuring we are properly staffed to meet regulatory requirements.

Establish and maintain an independent reconciliations governance framework over operations to ensure identification, assignment of ownership, timely resolution, and accurate reporting of aged breaks for customer reserve formula and net capital computations.

Perform quarterly securities counts required by Rule 17a-13 under the Exchange Act.

Develop and maintain effective relationships with regulatory reporting group as it relates to reporting of aged breaks to meet regulatory requirements.

Acquire, develop and motivate high quality professional management and staff through effective recruiting, education and training, professional development, career counseling, and succession planning programs. Be a leader and a team player.

Track and close identified reconciliation gaps.

Ensure ongoing analysis of operational risks, vulnerabilities, and market trends to determine potential impact on the organization’s reconciliation functions and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Align with Risk teams to ensure proper design and testing of business continuity plans to ensure continuity of reconciliation’s process in the event of a business disruption.

Lead and manage small team of analysts and managers responsible for reconciliation data generation and break management.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8+ year’s professional experience in financial services in several disciplines (operations, regulatory, internal audit, or compliance).

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics from an accredited University or College or equivalent industry experience.

Licenses/Certifications: Series 99, 7, 24, 63 and 65 (66).

Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to unexpected events, prioritize and multi-task in a deadline driven environment.

Strong communication and relationship management skills across lines of business.

Ability to proactively engage with stakeholders and communicate complex risk and regulatory issues.

Strong project and program management skills.

Ability to manage and lead effectively in an ever changing environment (both corporate and regulatory).

All Microsoft applications, particularly, VISIO, WORD, ACCESS, PowerPoint and Excel

Preferences:

SEC broker dealer experience or experience with large, diversified financial services firms with a focus on SEC Rule 15c3-3 and 15c3-1, Customer Protection and Net Capital Rule

Knowledge of Clearing/Back Office systems and reconciliation processes, BETA

Pay Range: $99,920-$149,880/year

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
