The HSSQE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures that ensure the company's operations are conducted safely, securely, and in an environmentally responsible manner while maintaining the highest quality standards.

This role involves continuous monitoring and improvement of health, safety, security, quality, and environmental practices across all levels of the organization.

The HSSQE Manager acts as the focal point for ensuring the company meets all regulatory requirements and standards and leads initiatives to promote a culture of safety and excellence within the workplace.

The ideal candidate for this role will be adaptable, dynamic, fully aligned with the vision, core values, code of conduct, and mission statement of Bahamas Ferries, and will possess strong leadership and strategic thinking abilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement HSSQE policies and procedures in compliance with legal and industry standards.

Compliance Monitoring: Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, security, quality, and environmental regulations.

Incident Management: Lead the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver HSSQE training programs to all employees, fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to HSSQE objectives, reporting on progress to senior management.

Emergency Preparedness: Oversee the development and implementation of emergency response plans and drills.

Contractor and Vendor Management: Ensure that contractors and vendors comply with the company's HSSQE standards.

Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement efforts in HSSQE practices, keeping abreast of new regulations, standards, and best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to maintain and enhance HSSQE performance.

Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies related to health, safety, security, quality, and environmental aspects.

Policy Awareness: Familiarize yourself with internal policies and external regulatory requirements relevant to your position and department.

Flexibility in Working Hours: Be prepared for weekend and holiday work as required.

Additional Duties: Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS: · Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.

· Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HSSQE role, preferably in a managerial capacity & Maritime industry · Certifications: Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 14001, ISO 9001) are highly desirable.

· Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of HSSQE regulations and standards.

Familiarity with industry-specific challenges and best practices.

· Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficient in data analysis and reporting.

· Attributes: High level of integrity, detail-oriented, proactive in identifying and resolving issues, able to work in a fast-paced environment.

· Others: Willingness to travel as required and to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
