Job Description:

As a Data Scientist, you will be critical to our organization's data management strategy. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining data pipelines, databases, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure that our data is accessible and accurate for analysts and other business stakeholders. Your work will contribute to informed decision-making and the overall success of our data-driven initiatives.

Years of Experience

3+ years work in Data Engineering and Data Science work

5+ years work experience in business analytics and reporting

5+ years work experience with and strong knowledge of Excel, SQL and relational databases is required

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, or a related Information Technology/Engineering discipline

Responsibilities

Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into data warehouses or other storage solutions.

Data Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data from different sources, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.

Database Management: Administer and optimize databases for performance, scalability, and security. This may involve working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL) or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).

Data Modeling: Create and manage data models and schema designs to support data analysis and reporting requirements.

Data Quality Assurance: Implement data quality checks and monitoring to identify and rectify issues or anomalies in the data.

Data Documentation: Maintain documentation for data pipelines, data dictionaries, and data lineage to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing.

Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance and identify areas for optimization in terms of query performance, data processing speed, and storage efficiency.

Collaboration: Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide them with the necessary tools and data sets.

Manipulate massive data sets using Python / SQL to identify and prioritize optimization opportunities

Create critical reporting dashboards in Power BI to monitor core KPIs in real time

Deliver impactful analysis regarding key market forces and apply analytics to present tangible business problems/actions (e.g. seasonality, competitor actions, partner marketing strategy)

Communicate complex analytical topics in a clean and simple way to team

Automate and/or streamline repetitive processes to improve individual and team productivity

Use statistics, distributions and confidence intervals to support decisions based on data and implement solutions

Troubleshoot and identify root cause of operational issues (e.g., data quality, critical process degradation)

Data Analysis: Explore and analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that can provide valuable insights.

Model Development: Build and refine predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques to solve specific business problems.

Data Preprocessing: Prepare and clean data for analysis, addressing missing values, outliers, and other data quality issues.

Experimentation: Design and conduct A/B tests or experiments to evaluate the impact of changes or interventions.

Candidate Requirements

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or similar for data processing and scripting.

Strong experience with data warehouse technologies (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake) and ETL tools (e.g., Apache Nifi, Talend).

Database management skills, including SQL proficiency.

Knowledge of big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases.

Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Understanding of data governance and compliance best practices.
