Maintenance Technician

NORMAL SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM

OVERTIME: May be required during peak seasons; shift lengths may increase to 9-10 hours M-F and/or occasional Saturday shifts

PAY FREQUENCY: Weekly

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance and upkeep of machinery, equipment, buildings, and facilities within the organization. This role involves performing a variety of skilled maintenance trades including plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and electrical work, operating a variety of maintenance and repair tools and equipment, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and repairing equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of High School Diploma or GED. Technical certification or vocational training in mechanical/electrical maintenance preferred.

Proven experience as a maintenance technician or similar role in a manufacturing environment.

Formal training in Electrical, HVAC, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, basic plumbing, and carpentry is desired.

Competency with Microsoft Office programs and basic computer skills.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, percentages, area, circumference and basic calculations.

Ability to use electrical test equipment and precision measuring instruments.

Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions promptly.

Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.

Experience with hand and power tools.

Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to equipment maintenance.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and management.

Ability to maintain consistent attendance, arriving on time and prepared for all shifts, meetings, and appointments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPECTATIONS, AND BEHAVIORS include, but are not limited to, the following:

Train in the troubleshooting, adjustments, repairs, and/or fabrication of all mechanical, electrical to include PLC's) hydraulic, motor and pneumatic components of all plant equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment.

Learn to service all CNC equipment including air compressors, sewing machines, RF sealing machine, foam grinder, dock doors and other equipment that may be installed.

Perform facilities maintenance and housekeeping.

Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.

Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform repairs to ensure optimal functionality.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts inventory.

Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruptions to production schedules.

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry best practices.

Demonstrate a proactive approach to maintenance by identifying potential issues and implementing preventive measures.

Uphold a positive attitude and professional demeanor while interacting with colleagues and management.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform the following physical activities:

Lifting and carrying heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).

Standing and walking for extended periods.

Bending, stooping, and kneeling to access equipment and machinery.

Using hand and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.

Work Environment:

The Maintenance Technician primarily works in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to noise, chemicals, and machinery. The role requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects. The technician may also be required to work in confined spaces or at heights up to 30 feet while performing maintenance tasks, as well as performing work outside or in areas of the warehouse that are not climate controlled.
