Staff Accountant

JOB SUMMARY

Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing general ledger activity, preparing financial statements, and internal management reporting by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger, ERP and other IT related systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Associate's Degree in Accounting, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in an accountant role. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred.

Experience performing journal entries and account reconciliations, and experience performing accounting in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, proficiency with all other MS Office Suite tools

Experience with an ERP System

Demonstrated skill in maintaining accurate financial records and preparing clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing, and operational use.

Demonstrated skill in maintaining accounting records for special accounts and projects.

Demonstrated interpersonal and oral/ written communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with other members of management and other departments.

Ability to make sound, independent judgments within established policies and procedures.

Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments while meeting deadlines and demanding quality execution.

Ability and desire to grow in the position and accept more responsibility.

Ability to take initiative in providing new ideas to improve process efficiencies.

Ability to maintain consistent attendance, arriving on time and prepared for all shifts, meetings, and appointments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPECTATIONS, AND BEHAVIORS include, but are not limited to, the following:

Participates in month-end close process including preparation of weekly/ bi-weekly payroll entries, monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.

Reconcile balance sheet accounts; review for accuracy and prepare monthly reports and journal entries, as needed.

Reconcile bank transactions daily/ weekly.

Initiate Wire and ACH payments.

Maintain fixed asset registers and calculate depreciation expense in accordance with the Company's capitalization polices.

Track Capital spending by project and report monthly.

Assist with the preparation and coordination of financial information to corporate monthly.

Support with preparation, coordination, and review of schedules for year-end financial audit.

Back up for Accounts Payable responsibilities to include vouching payments, expense coding, matching invoices against PO's and receipts, contacting vendors to resolve discrepancies and reviewing open payables to ensure timely payment.

Back up for the General Accountant responsibilities to include cash receipts postings, support for the Amazon/ Ecommerce team and reviewing open receivables for past due invoices.

Assist and support with annual external audits.

Assist in administering and enforcing accounting policies and procedures.

Effectively communicate and escalate issues and information to Controller.

Understand general departmental processes to be able to identify unusual transactions or issues and provide timely communication to the VP/Controller to support an effective resolution.

Provide general assistance and support to the VP/Controller by preparing ad hoc reports and financial analysis.

In office attendance is an essential function of this position.
