Our client, a nationwide steel manufacturer, has an immediate need for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our winning team in Philadelphia.

Our candidate of choice will perform a wide variety of plant maintenance, repair, installation, and construction operations under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follow all plant safety rules.

Inspect, maintain, and repair industrial equipment and machinery to ensure proper working order. Install new and used production equipment. Participate in the installation, start-up, and commissioning of new and used equipment.

Service and maintain equipment including motors, electrical systems, CNC machinery, and production-related equipment.

Diagnose and remedy source of trouble when machinery is not operating properly or safely.

Determine necessary repairs by using machine manuals or CDs and on-board machine diagnostics, working with technical support from vendor call-in centers, and assisting vendor technician(s) who may be on-site.

Fabricate parts for repairs and machine upgrades. Adjust mechanical parts using hand and machine tools. Source replacement parts and perform repairs.

Participate in the repairs and installation of a wide variety of electrical equipment such as motors, motor starters, circuit breakers, safety switches, wiring, conduit runs, etc., working with voltages up to 480 V 3 phase.

Perform installation, repairs, and required maintenance on facility utilities such as plant air, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.

Perform most general maintenance work on buildings and grounds.

Follow all safety rules, specifically lockout/tagout and all related OSHA regulations.

Communicate with the Maintenance Team and maintain a clean work area.

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as requested or as needed.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Three or more years of experience in industrial maintenance or related field, including maintenance of various types of industrial equipment and machinery.

Willingness and ability to work full time 7:00 am to 3:30 pm schedule and to work before 7:00 am and/or beyond 3:30 pm as needed. Significant overtime potential.

Valid driver’s license required.

Willingness to occasionally work at roof-top heights using hi-reach, scissor lift, and ladders.

Physical activity requires continuous standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting, and carrying and lifting of pieces of steel that could weigh up to 75 pounds.

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems up to 480 volts.

High degree of mechanical comprehension is required.

Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office) preferred.

Knowledge and experience using hand tools and powered tools required.

Ability to read and understand wiring schematics, blueprints, and machine manuals is preferred.

Experience with HVAC equipment and boiler repair and maintenance is helpful.

Experience with operating machine tools, forklift trucks, and other plant machinery and equipment helpful. Overhead crane and aerial platform operation experience also helpful.

Plumbing and millwright experience and/or knowledge helpful.

Must have complete set of personal tools (see separate tool list) and comply with uniform and safety specifications as required by management.

Willingness to work as a team.
