Job Title: Material Handler I

SUMMARY

Under limited supervision, handles and maintains flow of materials and products in manufacturing/warehouse areas according to established guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

v Perform picking and put-away in both Eskay and Conventional areas. May require receiver assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgement is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.

v Records movement of incoming and outgoing materials and supplies and verifies the accuracy of work performed.

v May operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.

v Normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.

v Performs packaging assignments for both domestic and truck shipments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.

v Other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Typically requires a high school education or equivalent, as well as 1-2 years related warehouse experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Basic math skills.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
