Salary: 80- 100K

Job Summary:

The Instrument Technician is responsible for specifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing control equipment associated with the processing of petroleum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Repairs, maintains, calibrates, adjusts, and installs industrial measuring and controlling instrumentation.

Calibrates and maintains continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS), system equipment, and analyzers.

Troubleshoots and tunes industrial processes and procedures.

Installs and maintains instruments or control equipment and systems to indicate, measure, or record specific aspects of production processes and operating plant.

Maintains safety fail safe devices in a control system.

Maintains distributed control systems (DCSs) to monitor process variables.

Exercises supervision over contracted personnel when assistance is needed.

Other Functions:

Troubleshoots control systems including fired equipment.

Complies with safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role supervises the following positions: Instrumentation Contractors.

The job provides information to Supervisors/Management that they use in making a decision.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.

5 years of experience in refinery or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the design, development, and application of technology for specific purposes.

Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

Knowledge of principals and methods of analysis.

Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Abilities that influence the acquisition and application of knowledge in problem solving.

The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience with Distributed Control System (DCS) experience preferred.

Previous experience with following and updating piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDS) preferred.

Previous experience with CEMS knowledge preferred.

This role is expected to use the following machines, tools, and equipment: Programmable logic controllers, Plant DCS, Boiler and Heater control systems, control valves, CEMs system, various types of transmitters, and others as assigned.

This role may be exposed to the following physical conditions:

Hazardous Physical Conditions: Infrequently 25% - 50%

Atmospheric Conditions: Infrequently 25% - 50%

Hazardous Materials: Moderately >25% - 50%

Extreme Temperatures: Frequently >50%

Workspace Restricting Movement: Infrequently <10%

This role may be required to use PPE on hands, head, feet, face, or body:
