About the Role
The Finfare engineering team is composed of the best and brightest software developers, mobile developers, and data engineers. Our engineers are responsible for developing the infrastructure behind our intelligent financial payment system products to support current and future product lines. Teams are highly collaborative across all areas of the organization, autonomous in their ability to perform work, and highly impactful towards the success of the business.
As the Lead Backend Engineer, you will play a key leadership role in building our products and services. This position will work directly with stakeholders and engineering teams to research and build new tools and features. If you are passionate about problem-solving, leading teams, have hands-on experience in software development and deep knowledge of object-oriented programming, we'd like you to be a part of our story!
Responsibilities
Lead a team of engineers-provide support, feedback and guidance. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development
Understands and practices agile software development and management
Proactive in identifying and clearing roadblocks for the team
Ensures that any external dependencies are resolved in time or escalated
Design, implement, and maintain our cloud service APIs and database to power Finfare platform
Collaborate with and lead frontend and mobile app engineers and other team members to ensure proper designs and integration
Given FinFare is a startup, pushes the team to deliver on aggressive timelines.
Polyglot. Finfare has numerous products written in a few languages. Leads should be able to pick up and guide engineers in different tech stacks
Partners effectively with product to manage scope and deliverables for the technical side of the product roadmap
Sets clear expectations for team members; solicits, synthesizes and delivers feedback
Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
Participate in design and code reviews
Perform validation and verification testing
Support operation in production

Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related fields
Experience developing APIs and performing integrations with Java and Spring Boot
Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers with diverse technical skill sets, including task assignment, performance management, and career development
Experience developing RESTful APIs with Python
Experience with Microservices
Experience in Agile development
In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) to analyze and write new SQL queries along with object-relational mapping (ORM)
Excellent software design and architecture skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently
Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Experience with AWS and writing server-less functions in Lambda
Knowledge of Node.js and JavaScript is a plus
Knowledge of Docker is a plus
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $180K - 210K+ (Depending on experience and level assessed post interviews)
