Job Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading their production crew in the ethanol manufacturing process while maintaining strict conformance to the standards and directives set forth by the Production Manager. This position is responsible for managing crew functionality in production, maintaining plant cleanliness, and coordinating with personnel from other departments regarding operational issues. The Production Supervisor will facilitate training and cross-training as well as coordinate LO/TO, confined space, and hot work permits with appropriate personnel.

The Production Supervisor will support all policies, goals, and objectives of the company while representing the company knowledgeably and professionally.

Essential Job Functions

Optimize production and support plant goals. Communicate with the Production Manager regularly and carry out all directives from the Production Manager and plant management.

Support the Company’s engagement process. Live the Company’s Core Values and Guiding Principles.

Coordinate work duties and scheduling of the production crew to ensure plant functions are completed successfully.

Facilitate operator training and ensure the operators are equipped and motivated.

Ensure completion of all logs and data collection, work permits, and tests necessary for operations.

Ensure all necessary documentation is completed.

Enter work requests into the computerized maintenance management system.

Keep facilities clean and enforce cleaning duties and cleaning schedule — conduct plant walkthroughs for cleanliness, maintenance, or operational issues.

Facilitate effective shift change meetings, ensuring all adequate knowledge transfer with the necessary personnel.

Ensure all team members follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other instructions. Assist with the development and maintenance of SOPs as necessary.

Analyze collected data (e.g., KPI sheets, DCS trends, etc.) and make adjustments accordingly to optimize plant operations.

Ensure quality control tests are done accurately and in a timely manner. Interpret results and make changes as necessary to ensure the quality of the product.

Acquire knowledge of and develop proficiency in all of the operator functions and plant processes.

Facilitate effective communication and positive working relationships between departments and with peers, superiors, and subordinates. Coordinate with other departments to ensure the accomplishment of overall plant goals.

Monitor employee performance for compliance with E Energy Adams’ policies, including but not limited to attendance/punctuality, work performance, and safety.

Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and issue disciplinary actions to employees as needed, in coordination with the Production Manager and the HR Manager.

Facilitate the performance management process to include conducting performance appraisals and regularly scheduled 1:1’s with employees and document in the performance management system accordingly.

Manage, approve, and monitor employee PTO requests and timecards.

Participate in the interviewing and selection process for new employees.

Make recommendations to the Production Manager regarding new technology or ideas that may improve plant operations.

Complete tasks assigned by the Production Manager along with other duties not listed herein, but which need to be accomplished to maintain safe and productive day-to-day operations within the plant.

Maintain confidentiality of all employee records and company matters.

Ensure all local, state, and federal regulations are being met at all times.

Minimum Requirements

Associate’s degree or higher in a STEM background (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)

A combination of relevant experience and education will be considered in lieu of an associate’s degree.

5 years of operations experience in a large scale industrial manufacturing environment.

Continuous process manufacturing environment experience preferred.

Ethanol manufacturing experience preferred.

3 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role.

Able to read, write, and comprehend the English language.

Skills/Abilities Required

Must be detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and organizational skills.

Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people and communicate information to obtain positive results.

Ability to lead, manage, develop, and coach personnel.

Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers, work with fractions, metric system, percentages, decimals, and ability to convert units as required.

Able to differentiate between colors on a computer monitor.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Attention to safety and environmental compliance is critical.

Physical Requirements

This position requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Ability to work around and on industrial equipment.

Ability to operate heavy equipment (e.g., forklift, scissor lift, front-end loader, payloader)

Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders up to 200 feet.

Ability to work while standing on a continuous basis.

Ability to enter confined spaces.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.

Must be willing to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances.

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.

Ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color on a computer monitor.

Ability to communicate by using and hearing a 2-way radio system.

Shift

Able to work a 12.25 hour 4-shift work-week rotation (4 on / 4 off).

Must be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Must be willing to work overtime.
