OVERVIEW

Skillsoft is currently looking to hire a fulltime, permanent, Senior Principal Azure Cloud Engineer to join our growing team. Azure Cloud Engineers take the Azure Cloud Architect’s vision and turn it into a reality. Azure Cloud Engineers work closely with the Azure Cloud Architects and the Cloud Operations team to deliver end-to-end operating environments to our customers.

This role will focus on building the infrastructure to support AI solutions for various business units, supporting the AI COE, in addition to improving the operational excellence of cloud operations through monitoring and automation.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the implementation, enhancement, deployment, and management of enterprise platforms, leveraging a comprehensive range of Azure services. This senior position requires a strong background in cloud engineering, with significant expertise in cloud-native solutions. The successful applicant will be instrumental in the seamless integration of AI solutions, from inception to production.

OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS

Infrastructure Building for AI Solutions:

Design and build robust infrastructure to support AI solutions across various business units.

Collaborate with the AI Center of Excellence (COE) to enhance AI capabilities.

Leverage Azure services to create scalable and efficient environments.

Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.

Work closely with development teams to integrate their code into the pipeline in a safe and compliant manner, ensuring continuous integration and deployment.

Configure and manage code repositories, branching strategies, and pull request workflows in GitHub.

Monitor and measure performance and usage.

Operational Excellence Enhancement:

Drive operational excellence within cloud operations.

Focus on monitoring, alerting, and automation to improve system reliability.

Implement best practices for maintaining high availability and performance.

Apply a consistently positive, problem-solving attitude and demonstrate a curious mindset.

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

Support the development of operational excellence via process, technology, and people development.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering, or at least 8+ years of experience in a similar position within the IT industry.

5+ years of progressive implementation experience in implementation and management of distributed applications and infrastructure.

5+ years of experience in leveraging Azure in enterprise environments utilizing security, compute, network, storage, API management, databases, backup, automation, monitoring, as well as other Azure IaaS and PaaS services and capabilities.

AI Expertise:

Helping define AI architecture and guide leaders and decision-makers in choosing compatible technologies.

Experience with Machine learning models, natural language processing and large language models.

Experience with AI infrastructure, application deployment, and operations

Experience with Azure AI Platform and corresponding services such as Azure OpenAI, AI Search, and Azure Cognitive Services

DevOps Expertise:

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Bicep, Azure ARM templates.

Proficient in DevOps practices and methodologies.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and infrastructure as code (IaC).

Familiarity with tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.

Scripting Languages:

Strong proficiency in Python and PowerShell.

Ability to write efficient scripts for automation and orchestration.

Azure Services:

In-depth knowledge of Azure services, including Function Apps and Automation Accounts.

Experience with Logic Apps, Power Automate, and Power Apps.

Infrastructure Management:

Skilled in designing and managing cloud infrastructure.

Understanding of virtual networks, storage, and compute resources in Azure.

Problem-Solving Skills:

Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

Proactive problem management and incident resolution.

Certifications:

Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are a plus.

Problem-solving and analytical abilities including the ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details and apply sound business knowledge.

Expertise in documenting requirements, establishing scope and objectives, and determining the strategy for implementing systems to achieve business goals.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Ability to multi-task and work independently, as well as work collaboratively with teams, some of which may be geographically distributed.

Experience using an Agile methodology is desired.

Certifications: AZ-900, AZ-305, AZ-500 is preferred.
