Job Description
Position Responsibilities
Responsible for preparing detailed estimates in support of multiple small to large projects based on construction drawings and specifications including, but not limited to:
Designing and delivering proposal documents to prospective clients and generating RFP’s based on applying established pricing guidelines and achieving pre-determined profit margin targets;
Participating in any bid walkthroughs with the Project Management team; review project plans, specifications and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required;
Actively researching, soliciting, and developing sources/vendors for compiling and maintaining accuracy of cost information; complete detailed estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and solicit pricing from qualified vendors and subcontractors;
Identifying potential risks and opportunities for cost savings during the estimating process;
Negotiating contracts with subcontractors and supplier to secure competitive pricing;
Submitting any RFI’s to gather necessary information for the RFP or bid documents; Reviewing completed estimate and proposal with Sr. Management for finalization;
Performing quality take-offs in a manner and level of detail consistent with the project goals;
Conducting client meetings;
Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Minimum five (5) yrs. cost estimating experience in telecommunications and/or construction industry required;
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize job responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment;
Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications, contracts) at all levels of design;
Professional, team-oriented work ethic;
Ability to work with minimal supervision and excellent problem-solving skills;
Strong attention to detail and self-auditing skills;
Proficiency in MS Office required;
High school diploma or GED required; college degree or equivalent experience preferred;
Adherence to regular attendance and normal scheduled hours;
Willingness to be flexible and to work overtime, often on short notice; Traveling to client sites in and around the DC Metro area;
Due to client requirements, US citizenship is required.
