Job Description

Duties and responsibilities

Operate between 1 and 8 CNC mills

Not every mill is set up for complete production parts. There will be times when you’re required to run production mills, as well as mills running prep ops, or partial ops to be used in other CNC mills later.

Priorities will be stated for each mill running so you know how to manage your time based on order demands

Parts Inspections

Follow inspection checklists and QC diagrams to ensure the parts you are machining are within spec

If discrepancies are found during inspection, try to correct the issue. If you can’t correct the issue, contact your supervisor.

Clearly mark blem parts so they’re easily identified by our QC department for final determination

Deburr, file or buff parts as needed

Test fit parts and assemble subassemblies for function check as stated in QC checklists and diagrams

Maintain clean, neat, and orderly work areas

The cleanliness of our CNC mills is not an option. This includes not only the insides, but the outsides, tops, and the floor space underneath. Leave the machine as you’d like it left to you by the prior operator

Keep workbenches, carts, and machine compartments neat and orderly

Sweep/mop floors in accordance with the cleaning schedule

Take ownership of the shop as a whole. If you see something that needs to be cleaned, put away, organized, or thrown in the trash, take the initiative and do it. Don’t wait for the next guy or have the “it’s not my area” mentality.

Minor maintenance

Check/adjust coolant levels daily

Add/maintain proper levels of other oils or lubricants as needed

Change mill lights, tighten loose nuts or bolts, clean/lubricate spindles

Clean filters and screens or coolant systems

Parts accountability

Accurately input your parts production, scrap, blem counts, and any other important information on the production log at the end of your shift.

These numbers are used by management for various reasons, so accuracy of your input is very important!

Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing varying tasks as needed
