PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Safely maintain the physical railway track within a specific territory in accordance with guidelines set forth by the FRA and CPKC.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

100% travel along the former DM&E territory (Runs from Owatonna MN, towards Savanah IL and stopping at Liberty MO)

Track maintenance and renewal work (working outdoors, in all weather conditions)

Use of hand tools and small machines, operating track renewal equipment

Standing, lifting, squatting for long periods and the ability to lift 50lbs or greater

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

4 on 3 off schedule (10 hour shifts)

Mechanical aptitude

Reliable transportation to and from work site, and a valid driver’s license

Ability to perform physical work outdoors in all types of weather

Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations, performing tasks in accordance with those rules

18 years of age or older

High School diploma or GED

CDL license or ability to obtaining one (CPKC will help cover the associated costs)

Career progression - Upon completion of the probationary period, you may bid into other positions that become available within the Union. A few examples include:

Machine Operator: $31.26/hr

Welder: $32.26/hr

Welder Foreman: $33.84/hr

Foreman: $33.50/hr

Medical Requirements:

CPKC is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the general public. This position is a sensitive position; all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical that includes a physical, vision, hearing, alcohol, and drug audit assessments. Qualification drug test(s) are also required.
