What you’ll do

Develop and maintain portfolio optimization algorithms to maximize the value of TC Energy's Natural Gas pipeline assets.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, project management and commercial to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable data science solutions.

Design and implement analytical models and statistical techniques to analyze complex datasets and identify optimization opportunities.

Conduct thorough data analysis to assess risk and performance of our systems and solutions and provide recommendations for improvement.

Utilize advanced optimization techniques such as linear programming, stochastic optimization, heuristics, and simulation to solve complex portfolio management problems.

Serve as data science lead for projects from conception to deployment, ensuring deliverables are completed following data science best practices.

Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in data science and portfolio management and incorporate relevant advancements into TC Energy's optimization strategies.

Engage with TC Energy’s Information Services team to ensure alignment on approved toolsets, best practices, and architecture standards.”

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or related field

Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science, with a focus on asset management optimization or related fields.

Strong proficiency in Python, and its data science frameworks (i.e., Numpy, Pandas, Scipy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Plotly, Seaborn, Matplotlib).

Demonstrated expertise with relational database platforms such as SQL.

Experience with GIS datasets, and data visualizations.

Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning models.

Experience with cloud development frameworks, preferably AWS and Azure

Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing machine learning algorithms and statistical models, and operational sustaining those systems (AIOps, MLOps, etc.)

Experience with optimization tools and techniques (e.g., linear programming, quadratic programming, dynamic programming, heuristics, etc.).

Proficiency in working with large-scale datasets and making recommendations for performing data preprocessing, cleansing, and feature engineering.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Proven track record of delivering complex data science projects from conception to deployment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or related field.

Experience with reinforcement learning.

Prior experience in the energy industry or related sectors is preferred but not required.
