is currently seeking a Senior Scientist or Engineer to join the Pittsburgh, PA office.

The Senior Scientist or Engineer will lead the Seismic Hazards Group.

The successful candidate will manage and provide technical direction for seismic hazards projects to develop site-specific seismic design bases and ground motion products for design analyses and safety assessments.

The Senior Scientist or Engineer should have experience in managing probabilistic seismic hazards analyses and related studies and interactions with clients.

Responsibilities: • Manage PSHA projects, including development of seismic source and ground motion models, PSHA calculations, site response analysis, development of seismic design bases, and development of related products for design and safety analyses.

• Prepare and review written reports and documentation.

• Interface with clients to determine needs, provide project status, address issues, and describe results.

• Represent clients in interactions with regulators.

• Collaborate with other RIZZO manager/technical experts to address client needs.

• Plan projects and prepare proposals, including technical and cost elements.

• Provide guidance to and oversee performance of staff.

Qualifications: • Master’s Degree in an appropriate science or engineering field.

• 15+ years of experience performing and managing seismic hazards studies, including technical expertise in some aspect(s). • Experience in client interactions.

• Experience in interactions and preparation of submittals for regulators (e.g., NRC). • Experience with a wide range of seismic hazard and seismic design codes and standards including US NRC, US DOE, IAEA, ASCE, and ANS, and associated guidance documents.

• Experience in performing seismic hazard analyses following the guidance of the Senior Seismic Hazard Analysis Committee (SSHAC) (i.e., NUREG/CR-6372, NUREG-2213). • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work both independently and within technical teams.

• Must have US employment authorization.
