Congressional School seeks part-time After Care Counselors to join our Extended Hours Program (EHP) for the 2023-2024 school year. Our Extended Hours Program (EHP) Counselors offer safe, fun and educational childcare for our Preschool through 8th Grade students after school each day. The EHP Counselors also create a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment where each child is known and valued. Our EHP Counselors work Monday-Friday, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and report to the Auxiliary Programs Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a fun and safe aftercare experience for students
Plan and implement activities
Actively supervise students by interacting with them through indoor and outdoor play to ensure the safety of each child and encourage their participation in activities.
Help prepare and serve snacks, including sitting with children and assisting them as needed
Report to assigned duties such as study hall, playground, and crosswalk in a timely manner
Alert proper personnel about hazards and general upkeep
Meet and/or exceed all licensing standards
Recognize the individual needs of each child including medical and behavioral concerns
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children and their families
Actively support the School's vision, mission and core values
Receive sixteen hours of Early Childhood Education training every 12 months
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Six months of experience working with children
Ability to lift or carry children weighing up to 25 pounds.
Strong initiative and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills
An ability to work in a joyful, collegial and collaborative environment
A sense of humor, warm personality, and growth mindset
