The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for the 2024 - 2025 school year.

Summary Description of Classification: Under the direction of the school's principal, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students. Includes instruction in selected areas of Graphic Communications, Design, Animation, and Digital Media Technology to ensure that students gain appropriate knowledge and skills about the industry and are prepared for a career and post-secondary opportunities, as well as provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure achievement and performance for every child.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Knowledge of GPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, Bibb County BOE policies, and effective instructional practices. Understanding of the teaching/learning process. Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education. Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents, and community. Respect for diversity in education. Excellent oral and written communication, along with strong human relations skills.

Education, Training, and Experience:

Associate's Degree or higher in graphic design, advertising design, communication design, commercial art, graphic arts, visual communication, computer animation, or print management from an accredited institution accepted by GaPSC; OR a GaPSC-determined equivalent; The CTAE office will assist with this process. Minimum of two (2) years of occupational work experience in the field required.

Certificate and License Requirements: Must hold or be eligible for valid Graphic Communications & Design certification from GaPSC Trades at GaPSC 505-2-.90; Areas of Specialization: (O) Graphic Communications & Design

Examples of Teaching Tasks:

? Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on state and local curriculum through a combination of classroom, laboratory, and co-curricular experiences

? Provides community-based instruction and projects based on program guidelines and requirements

? Provides leadership opportunities for students by establishing a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), i.e. SkillsUSA, as a co-curricular instructional tool within the classroom

? Manages and maintains program facilities and equipment

? Adheres to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful program

? Provides classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject area

? Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, school & county leadership

? Accounts for student attendance and punctuality

? Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures

? Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities

? Attends school and District-level professional learning activities as directed

? Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent

? Seeks and maintains professional learning opportunities through State endorsed professional organizations. i.e., ACTE, GACTE

? Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications

? Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction

? Avoids behaviors that detract from staff morale

? Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

General Duties & Responsibilities:

Teacher Duties and Responsibilities

A. Follows professional practices consistent with school and system policies in working with students, students' records, parents, and colleagues.

1. Explain and demonstrate artistic techniques

2. Interacts professionally with students and parents

3. Is available to students and parents for conferences according to system policies.

4. Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning and sending written communications.

5. Maintains confidentiality of student's and students' records.

6. Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues and parents.

B. Complies with school, system, and state administrative regulations and board of education policies.

C. Demonstrates professional practices in teaching.

D. Acts professionally and assumes responsibility for the total school program, its safety and good order.

SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS:

1. 215 day work year.

2. Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Georgia Annual Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).

Physical Demands: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing). Ability to move around the classroom, including stooping, bending, standing for extended periods, and moving objects and materials. Crisis intervention may require participating in physical restraints.

Special Requirements: Required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the administration.
