Position Overview

S:US is seeking a Vocational Specialist for our families with children shelter in the Bronx.

This position is located at 240 E. 178 Street Bronx, NY 10457

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Vocational Specialist provides and coordinates client services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Familiar with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations as they apply to the community residence program and agency policies● Provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. visits clients in their home and other settings required.● Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services● Provides aid and assistance through all phases of the vocational service provision● Performing routine clinical services as a member of the Team● Responsible for charting client services● Responsible Vocational portion or all of creating the service plan● Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services with the tasks of all the team members● Responsible for ensuring revisions to the plan as the participant’s needs change● Advocating for the rights and preferences of the participant whenever possible● Responsible for creating a monthly spreadsheet with names of tenants and their employment status● Follow-up quarterly with all employed tenants● Assist with making monthly contact with tenant as needed● Participate in bi-weekly monthly meeting● Participate in monthly supervision to address any work-related tasks or concerns● Other duties as assigned● Maintain up to date, accurate, complete, and timely client chart documentation in compliance withDHS, OTDA, other Funder and SUS standards● Facilitate discharge/transfer process and documentation of same● Attend staff meetings, case conferences, group supervision, trainings, and escort clients on housing interviews as needed● Comply with all SUS Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols, SUS Corporate CompliancePolicies, and NYS Dept. of Social Services Rules, Regulations, and Statutes● A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours is required● Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

● Bachelor’s Degree is Human Services field preferred● Two years’ experience with homeless population● Ability to work with a culturally diverse population

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

● Familiarity of NYC public school system preferred● Experience in residential setting, group work, tenant organization, case management, referral, and/or community outreach strongly preferred
