The Substance Abuse Therapist conducts assessments in our children's outpatient department and prepares the proper documentation for the client's treatment plan. It is essential that in this role, the client's treatment is set with the goal to better. To accomplish this, the Substance Abuse Therapist will work with case managers and psychiatrists to ensure that the clients needs are well taken care of.

What we are looking for:

Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field

Good organizational and documental skills

Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills

Ability to perform group instruction and activities

Ability to communicate effectively with clients and referral sources

Proficient writing skills

DSM V knowledge

Knowledge of community agencies

Experience preferred working with the seriously mentally ill

Effective planning skills

Preferred history of working with substance abuse

Preferred history of working with adolescents

Ability to work non-traditional hours if needed What you will be doing:

Conduct individual, group and family therapy to Serious Mental Illness (SMI) population

Perform initial assessments, and intakes and prepare documentation of such for client charts

Input data into profiler computerized medical records

Prepare a treatment plan to include goals

Document the progress of the clients toward goals as outlined in the Treatment plan

Present cases to psychiatrists regarding client’s medicine· Work closely with Case Managers regarding client’s needs

Provide Crisis Intervention as needed

Participate in various meetings including departmental, divisional, or other meetings as required by the coordinator

Complete billing documentation in a timely and accurate manner.

Conduct follow-ups with clients

Other duties as assigned by Division Director
