Job Summary

Preceptors are essential in providing secondary instruction to students who are placed in an experiential learning environment. In this role, Preceptors are responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and correcting students in their learning experience, ensuring students utilize acquired skills in a practical setting. The Preceptor engages in regular feedback with the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) faculty and department chair, in both formal and informal meetings, to communicate progress in meeting student learning outcomes. It is also expected that Preceptors are capable of filling in during peak capacity periods, and this position may play a larger role, as operation needs dictate, in facilitating the working aspects of the EMT operations.

Student Engagement

Monitors students in patient care settings.

Provides hands-on real time instruction and feedback to students.

Rates student performance based on established guidelines. Administrative

Completes student evaluation as outlined by department chairperson.

Attends all required meetings to provide feedback on student learning outcome goals.

Attends all required trainings and workshops.

Communicates frequently with the faculty and department chair on the needs of students as they fulfill their learning requirements. Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

Availability to work assignment on varying days of the week and hours of the day, including weekends. Minimum Education & Experience Required:

Associate degree in a closely related field

one (1) year of professional experience

Current Ohio EMT-Paramedic certification required Preferred Qualifications:

Associate degree or higher

Previous teaching experience (e.g., CPR instructor) preferred. Full Time/Part Time:
