Salary Range: $60.90 - $93.62 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

All expectant parents hope that their babies will be healthy. Yet sometimes problems arise that result in a newborn requiring highly specialized care. When this happens, infants benefit greatly from having immediate access to advanced care at Hoag. From Hoag's level IIIa Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Newport Beach and our Special Care Nursery (SCN) in Irvine, Hoag serves our community with advanced, around-the-clock care for infants born prematurely, or with complications.

Hoag is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Educator/ Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our level IIIa NICU and SCN team. As a dedicated Educator/ CNS, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized education to the team which will go on to help our tiniest patients and their families. This opportunity which will give you the ability to create new and innovative learning programs, building the NICU and SCN learning journey, while working through Hoag's NICU and SCN expansions.

Responsibilities:

- Provide expert clinical consultation and support to the NICU healthcare team, including nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement evidence-based care plans for NICU patients.

- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.

- Develop and implement educational programs for NICU staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in neonatal care.

- Onboard new hire NICU nurses and assure they are trained and enculturated into their new unit.

- Serve as a resource and mentor to NICU staff, providing guidance and support in complex patient care situations.

- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and promote best practices in NICU care.

- Stay updated with the latest research and advancements in neonatal care, and incorporate evidence-based practices into clinical care.

- Be a member of the Hoag Nursing education team to collaborate and assure the best education is provided to the staff

Requirements:

- Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

- Master's degree or doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Neonatal Care or a related field.

- Minimum of three years of experience working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting.

- Previous experience as a CNS in a healthcare setting is preferred.

- Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (NCC) or Advanced Practice Neonatal Nursing (AAN) is highly desirable.

- Proficiency in Neo Needle Intensive Care and experience as an NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) instructor for AAP/AHA is required.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in neonatal care.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with the healthcare team and provide education to staff.

- Ability to critically analyze complex patient situations and develop appropriate care plans.

- Strong leadership skills to guide and support the NICU team.

- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
