Road Construction Project Manager - Apprenticeship
C & S Sweeping Inc. has an exciting career opportunity for a Project Manager – Apprenticeship in Phoenix, AZ location.
C&S provides Street Sweeping Services, Pavement Profiling (Asphalt Milling& Pulverizing), Dump Truck, and Water Truck services. Our goal is to advance this individual into a well-rounded, experienced Project Manager, with progressive knowledge and experience in ground labor, operating equipment, coordinating crews, preparation of estimates, overseeing projects, etc.
The “right candidate” will take hands-on progressive steps to learn, perform and perfect skills in each position in the Road Construction business. Progressing to each level will take time and hard work. Advancement to each/the next level can be achieved when the skill and experience reach an “expert” level” and the individual has the ability to train staff and ensure optimum safety practices are upheld, through each step.
These are brief outlines of each position this person will take. Training is provided.
Level One - Ground Labor
Pre & Post trip equipment
Coverts inches to metric measurement
Sets sensors that control the depth of the milling
Operate Trimmer, Gannon tractor, and Class D license street sweeper
Keep operating area free of debris, obstacles & public traffic
Level Two - Milling Operator
Provide Leadership and direction to the crew regarding professional standards, work quality and quantity, performance and accountability.
Read, interprets, analyze drawings and project specification, and procedures
Reviews plans and goals with the crew and Division Director for efficient process and efficient completion
Operate a milling machine, skid steer w/milling head/broom, loaders, water trucks, and power brooms
Performs daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance and makes minor adjustments and repairs. Reporting all major and minor reports to mechanics.
Knowledge to inspect, clean, maintain equipment, and make appropriate adjustments to meet specifications
Time Management and attention to detail
Level Three - Project Manager
Meet with customers, access the projects, develop quality and competitive estimates
Present estimates to the customer and follow up to the completion of the contract
Continuously assess risk and resolve conflicts between budget, schedule, and goals
Ensure the project team complies with the contracted agreement and is exercising rigid cost control
Monitors project progress and maintain a record of accuracy and completeness
Identify causes for any revisions to the project to determine if changes are billable to the client.
Required skills/Abilities
Completion of Construction Management Program
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Proven leadership skills
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects utilizing organization and communication skills
Strong sense of responsibility regarding timely and accurate completion of work, with a strong commitment to Company goals and commitments
Capable of effectively functioning in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
Excellent Math skills
Ability to travel for short term assignments (1 week at a time)
Valid CDL – Class A license (will be required at the time of promotion to Project Manager)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to outside weather, including frequent hot and cold conditions, as well as exposure to fumes, vibrations, and airborne particles
Noise level is usually moderate
Requires the employee to sit, climb, bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
The work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts, so employees will be required to follow Company mandated safety requirements.
