Earthwork Foreman

Job Description

Marous Brothers Construction Site Division, located in Willoughby, Ohio is accepting applications for an Earthwork Foreman.

The foreman will be responsible for setting up cuts and fills, planning haul routes and maintaining haul roads, roughing/grading and working with inspectors to ensure fills meet project specifications.

Maintains a working knowledge of related plans and specifications, contractual requirements, and schedule.

Provides status updates and/or communicates any issues with the superintendent and project manager.

Makes recommendations on how to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.

Works with superintendent to schedule employees and equipment to keep utilization rates high.

Communicates with vendors and subcontractors as it relates to earthwork and grading, such as aggregate suppliers or blasting subcontractors.

Ensures the safety of all employees and personnel on site, by maintaining compliance with all applicable OSHA and company safety policies and procedures.

Responsible for ALL as-builts and documentation

Other duties as assigned.

Aptitude/Abilities/Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Five plus years previous heavy civil construction experience.

Ability to read and interpret grading plans, specifications, and geotechnical information.

Ability to effectively communicate computer skills (written and orally).

Strong organizational skills.

Strong time management and leadership skills.

Experience with grade checking to meet project plans and specifications utilizing a variety of methods including GPS, rotating laser, stakes and cut sheets, etc.

Fundamental knowledge of GPS equipment as it applies to grading, machine control and rover.
