Title: Assistant Branch Manager
Reports to: Branch Manager
Supervises: Assists in Directing Branch Associates
Status: Non-Exempt
Objective
The Assistant Branch Manager is a results-driven position and responsible for assisting with the direction and administration of branch operations by ensuring that established policies and procedures are followed, members are promptly and professionally served, and overseeing the provision of a full range of services to members and prospective members. The Assistant Branch Manager also acts as Branch Manager when necessary and trains, directs, and assists in supervising branch staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assumes responsibility for assisting in the supervision of Branch operations:
Ensures that operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and audit standards; provides suggestions for improved effectiveness
Ensures Branch security; assists with opening and closing the building in accordance with set hours; tests security equipment as assigned
Assists with Member Services Representative functions; performs duties related to loan processing, certificates of deposit, and IRAs; handles direct deposit functions and safe deposit boxes; assists in opening new Member accounts and with loan closings and disbursements
Promotes Branch business development and seeks to broaden Member base; actively cross-sells Credit Union products and services
Acts as a Loan Officer, originating and closing Member loans within established policies and limits
Completes required reports and records and ensures that Branch functions are properly documented
Assists with implementing changes to established policy and procedures within the Branch
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relations with Branch Associates:
Provides support, direction, and supervision as needed, including guidance for Concierge and Member Services Representatives
Reviews and monitors the work of Branch Associates; provides suggestions and support as necessary
Assists with orientation of new Associates and staff training sessions; ensures that Associates are well trained in all phases of their respective jobs; performs cross training as necessary
Assists with determining appropriate staffing levels and scheduling Associates
Assists with tracking individual progress and conducting performance appraisals; formulates and implements corrective actions as needed
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with Members:
Ensures that Members' requests and questions are promptly and courteously resolved; answers Members’ questions or refers appropriately
Ensures the Members are informed of Credit Union services, products, and policies; cross-sells services
Ensures that the Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned:
Replaces Branch Manager as necessary; assists with personnel functions as assigned
Assists in other areas as directed by Credit Union management
Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained
Develops a working knowledge of the Credit Union’s data processing system
Develops thorough knowledge of lending and financial services
Registers with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) and maintains and renews the registration in addition to completing related compliance training as directed by KEMBA
Assists in development of new products/services
Develops an understanding of Credit Union history, philosophy, organization, policies and operational procedures
On a self-directed basis, continues to improve individual level of competency through training and certification on established educational programs
Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions:
Can get along with coworkers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes
Perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading, or speaking with others
Respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Business or Finance or related education and experience
Two to five years of related managerial and sales experience
Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment
Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products, services, and policies
Understanding of Teller/Member Services Representative functions
Knowledge of Loan Officer duties
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Solid supervisory abilities
Professional demeanor
