The Playstrong Athletic Trainer is primarily responsible for the evaluation and therapeutic treatment of patients referred to Functional Rehabilitation and its specialty programs, including but not limited to Adaptive Rehab, Concussion Rehab, Functional Rehab, Performing Arts, and Play Strong. All care will be provided in a manner that promotes quality, continuity, and safe patient care. They will document all patient interactions & treatments and bill according to the highest professional standards and laws. They will develop professional relationships with their patients and families to become a valued member of their health care team, deliver a high level of customer service, and continually look for ways to improve the quality of their clinical and rehabilitative services. Knowledge of age appropriate care, scientifically based and medically established best practices for pediatric and adolescent sports medicine and active populations is the standard required for quality service delivery. Responsibilities

Continuously performs effective rehabilitation evaluations and treatments that are age/developmental/skill specific, including specialty patients (e.g. Adaptive Rehab, Concussion Rehab, Functional Rehab, Performing Arts, and Play Strong).

Continuously performs proper documentation and billing practices related to patient care and insurance requirements in accordance with compliance laws and standards.

Continuously provides a level of detailed communication across the continuum of care involving patients, families, Nationwide Children's Hospital staff and school community.

Participation on department and hospital committees to promote collaboration.

Occasionally involved with daily operations, education, quality improvement, outcomes/research, and special event services for Sports Medicine.

Completion of annual department required training, keeping abreast of all policy and procedural changes for clinical care and taking responsibility to become competent with any techniques used in clinic and patient care.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or closely related field; Master’s Degree highly preferred.

Licensure:

Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Ohio

Certifications:

BOC Certified.

CPR Certification.

FMS certification preferred.

CSCS or PES certification preferred.

Skills:

Preferred experience with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records.

Experience:

Highly preferred 3 years of work experience in a sports medicine setting with rehabilitation responsibilities included.

Preferred experience with video analysis
