JOB SUMMARY:
This position’s primary focus is to provide engineering and technical expertise for new product development and improvement / troubleshooting of existing products lines. The individual will perform moderately complicated engineering work exercising independent judgment and action.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/STANDARDS
Develop, recommend and implement new product design and product improvement efforts managing product development progress through various stages including prototype development, testing / validation, certification, material/labor costing and production methodology.
Responsible for the initiation, implementation and completion of specific project management activities as assigned.
Write project plans, determine and meet project deadlines and resources for projects.
With support from the Director of Engineering, coordinate closely with other departments including Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Control and Customer Service as well as outside suppliers, designers and technicians throughout all stages of product design and improvement processes.
Submit proposals considered feasible to Director of Engineering for consideration and allocation of funds.
Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and communications.
Other duties as assigned.Requirements:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred. Candidates with an Associates Degree and experience considered.EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
Minimum 2+ years of product engineering and project management experience required
Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities
Ability to effectively manage multiple large complex projects
Hands-On work environment, experience with automotive / truck upgrades, customization, maintenance experience a plus.
Experience designing metal and plastic components preferred.
Must be proficient in SolidWorks
Ability to effectively analyze and solve problems
Excellent communication skills both in writing and verbal, English necessary.
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, prioritize and execute work activities.
