Duties & Responsibilities

Assist in the development of engineering plans, specifications, reports, and construction schedules

Assist in the performance of field and office assignments, which may include surveying, materials testing, data collection and analysis, and report preparation

Attend project meetings, as directed, to observe and learn about civil engineering principles at work

Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop civil engineering drawings

Help prepare cost estimates for construction projects

Perform research on a variety of topics related to civil engineering, such as environmental impact studies or land-use planning.

Procurement process - Manage and analyze supply base

Analyze market and delivery systems

Source and interview vendors; negotiate contracts and costs

Communicate performances and costs to management.

Help develop proposals for new projects

Conduct laboratory tests of soil and other materials used in construction

Observe construction sites to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety regulations and engineering plans

Prepare draft reports and presentations based on your observations and research

Revise drafts based on feedback from supervisors

Complete all assigned tasks within deadlines
