Safety Coordinator
Classification: Exempt

Your Impact
The Safety Coordinator develops and maintains company safety program, ensuring compliance with Federal and State Safety regulations while promoting a safe, accident free and healthy work environment.
A Glimpse of What You’ll Do
Oversees all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmentally sustainable development programs
Manages investigations for work-related accidents and reports workers’ compensation claims and OSHA recording; prepares Safety Programs
Recommends and promotes Safety training programs; coordinates the scheduling of all safety training; participates in New Hire Orientations
Conducts regular physical inspections of projects to complete Job Hazard Analysis (JHA/JSA); conducts safety audits and trainings
Interact with state/federal agencies and consultants to ensure compliance with MIOSHA, OSHA, EPA, FAA requirements
Works closely with HR Manager on Workers’ Compensation and injury management
Produces safety articles and statistics for monthly newsletter
Compiles accident reports completed by supervisors and assists with investigation of work-related accidents and injuries to minimize recurrence and recommend corrective actions
Determines requirements for safety equipment and devices, and directs uses or installation of safety devices
Works with insurance carrier to minimize lost time and cost of claims; prepares documentation and evidence required for insurance investigation
Creates status reports on all accidents, injuries, near misses, safety suggestions and safety audits for management review
Maintains safety files, records and written hazard communication program, including, but not limited to DART, OSHA, EMR, etc.
Maintains records of Contractor Safety Programs – – MUST, ISNetWorld, Avetta
Order and maintain safety / maintenance records on lift equipment
Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all duties
What You Bring
Two years relevant work experience is required
Associate’s degree in occupational health and safety, or equivalent combination of education and experience; bachelor’s degree preferred
OHSA (30) certification
minimum of 5 years’ career experience as a safety professional

Additional Information
Full-time position, typical hours of work are Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
Frequently required weekend work and remains on call
Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Frequently required to lift and/or move items over 75 pounds
