Noble Plastics is looking to add to our quality team to meet growth in servicing our defense contracts. ITAR requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status only.
The Metrology Technician is a member of the Noble Plastics quality team and provides CMM programming and operation to support manufactured products. The position is responsible for performing inspection jobs, first article inspections, and completing all required documentation. This position requires a can-do attitude, is customer service oriented, and collaborates well within a team. Additional duties include compiling statistical data and writing narrative reports summarizing quality assurance findings.
Required Skills:
Advanced knowledge of CMM operations including setup, programming, and controls
Ability to interpret engineering drawings (blueprints) utilizing (GD&T) applications
Ability to use precision inspection equipment such as CMM, Keyence Systems, Height Gages, Digital Height gages, micrometers, calipers, plug gages, & thread gages
Experience with CAD (Autodesk Inventor), Excel, CMM Metrology, and PolyWorks
Strong organization, teamwork, and time-management skills
The ability to accomplish a task with concern for all the areas involved, including the ability to notice minute inconsistencies/faults in parts, and the ability to make timely, sound decisions. This includes recognizing when outside advice is needed, and committing to action, even in uncertain situations
The ability to define, diagnose, and resolve problems
Knowledge of the Six Sigma processes and the ability to apply Six Sigma principles to production process for continual improvement and operational effectiveness
The ability to conduct a Gage R&R for CMM related work.
The ability to conduct capability Cpk studies from the CMM as required.
Essential Functions:
Work collaboratively, with Engineering, to make sure dimensional issues are resolved
As new layouts are completed, maintain an organized history of layout revisions
Work closely with Project Engineering to develop root cause and resolve low Cpk results
Ability to setup holding fixtures on a set up plate
Create CMM standard work instructions and generate inspection setup operational sheets
Follow Quality Procedures for In-Process and Final Parts Inspection Process to ensure verification of specifications and dimensions of all parts prior to shipment (internal or external)
Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation
Follow ISO 9001 and quality management system procedures
Analyze and interpret blueprints, routings, evaluation sheets, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required
Clean, maintain, repair, and calibrate measuring instruments and test equipment and work closely with engineers and suppliers to define and implement inspection methods on new products during development
Collect and analyze inspection data and make computations as necessary to determine inspection results and perform first article inspections based on work order instructions
Stay abreast of technological advancements and breakthroughs in the Metrology industry
Assist engineers and machining with qualification and validation of new or revised parts or tooling
Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to plan sequences of operations for creating/operating CMM programs
Performance Criteria:
Analyze specifications, set up gauge or fixture in accordance with the released part GD&T and create & execute measurement program to validate part quality
Interpreting specifications, blueprints, manufacturers' manuals, sketches, or similar documents
Ability to plan the sequence of operation and materials required according to knowledge of computer technology, such as computer-aided design, CAD, to create measurement programs
Qualifications:
Three years as a CMM operator, preferably in plastic injection molding and using PolyWorks
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and random drug testing
Must sign a confidentiality/non-compete agreement
US Citizenship is required for ITAR compliance, must be English fluent in reading and writing
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be capable of lifting (up to) 55 lbs
Associate degree (Preferred)
